Despite the obvious differences in the two situations, a car does not know whether it is on the road or on a race track, and the laws of physics are the same in each case.

Therefore, the same techniques which allow improved lap times in a race also allow for more precise driving on the road. In each case, advanced driving raises the effective limit of the car's adhesion.

On a race track, this allows high cornering speeds to be attained while remaining in control. On the public highway, it provides a vital extra safety margin which, in conjunction with correct roadcraft, makes it possible to drive more safely and economically either in a normal car or in a high-performance one.

Advanced race coaching is therefore of great benefit to road drivers, and also to demonstrators who wish to show their cars in the best possible light.
